Greasy Tug Boat Is Actually Luxury Yacht [Ships]

Futuristic ships that look more spaceship than boat fascinate me. However, I can’t deny that, if I had to get a yacht of a sailboat, I would go for this amazing tug boat , completely remodeled inside and out. The original tug boat went to sea in 1967. It got bought in 2004 and put through years of interior and exterior remodeling, which included a spa, a gym, sauna, whirlpool bath, and luxurious suites. Then it was reborn under the name Ariete Primo , a kick ass ship that you can use to go to lusty beaches in the Pacific or push oil tankers in the Indian Ocean. [ James List ]

SanDisk ships 64GB Ultra SDXC card for $350

Here’s hoping you didn’t pull the trigger on of the world’s first SDXC cards to ship , ’cause if so, you just paid a painful premium. Nary two months after Panasonic served up the first 32GB and 64GB SDXC cards to the masses, SanDisk has stepped in to ship its highest capacity Secure Digital card ever in the 64GB Ultra SDXC. Said device boasts a 15MB/sec read speed, a Class 4 speed rating and an exFAT file structure that helps you capture 1080p clips without any glitches or hangups. It’s also based around the minty fresh SD 3.0 specification, so make sure that you pick up an SDXC reader or a device that specifically supports the format (you know, like ASUS’ Eee PC T101MT ). If you’re finally ready to leap, this one’s available now for the not-quite-reasonable price of $349.99, though if we were you, we’d wait for the rest of the competition to hit the ship button and drive down the MSRP. Lenovo’s G560 and G460 laptops now available to order

Good news, laptop hunters! No, not those laptop hunters …. Anywho, two of Lenovo’s CES-announced machines are now ready for you to customize and order, with the 14-inch G460 packing a 2.13GHz Core i3-330M processor, integrated Intel graphics, Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 1,366 x 768 resolution panel, 320GB hard drive, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, dual-layer DVD writer and a 6-cell battery. The 15.6-inch G560 adds a marginally larger LCD and, well, that’s it. Thankfully, both units get going at the same $799 price point, so choosing between the two really boils down to how awful your vision is. Got that, gramps? Alienware now shipping 23-inch OptX AW2310 1080p 3D monitor

Just a hunch here, but we’re guessing that Alienware ’s CES stash all hit the production line at right about the same time. During the past day, we’ve seen the company’s M15x, M17x and OptX AW2310 hit the shipping stage, the latter of which is the firm’s first-ever 3D monitor. Checking in at 23-inches and boasting a full 1080p panel, this one also packs a 3 millisecond response time, 120Hz refresh rate and stereoscopic support when NVIDIA’s GeForce 3D Vision Kit is utilized. It’s up for order right now at $469, but if you follow that Logicbuy link down there, you’ll be able to snag it (for a limited time) for $449.10.

Crew Uses Crazy Futuristic EarthRace Boat and Lasers to Fight Japanese Whalers [Boats]

Regardless of your feelings about whaling, you have to admit the fight just got a whole lot more interesting. Check out this video of a Sea-Shepherd-manned (from Whale Wars ) carbon-fiber, biofuel-powered EarthRace Trimaran blinding a Japanese whaling boat with lasers. Looks to us like the laser is mostly for warning and intimidation, which probably works considering they’re zooming around in a ferocious-looking 1080-horsepower, 78-foot trimaran. The crew manning the EarthRace is the Sea Shepherd society, which you might know from Whale Wars , where they’re usually getting outwitted and outgunned in a boat nowhere near as cool as this one.

Ghost Supership Can Probably Break Other Ships in Two [Ships]

The Ghost 180 reminds me of the war ships from the beginning of the 20th century. Paint it black, and Darth Vader would spend his holidays there, cruising from Málaga to the Adriatic. And splitting other yachts in two. The 180-foot three-deck ship can fit an helicopter, and would be completed in 2010 for you and I not to enjoy. [ Super Yacht Design via Born Rich ]

Ikkar Transforming Yacht Requires Supervillain Spandex Suit [Ships]

I’m glad that the Ikkar—a yacht that can open its hull until it looks like a trimaran—is just a really sleek concept. After all, the only people who can actually build it are Dr.Doom, Magneto, and Larry Ellison. I wish it was real, however. The Ikkar allows for 50 passengers, with suites that have terraces facing the ocean . Stationary or at low speed, the Ikkar can open its hull sideways, deploying two large dock surfaces that allow people to walk and enjoy the sun. On the top, a solar sail—equipped with photovoltaic cells—grabs energy to help power the ship.

110-Foot Catamaran Comes With a Goddamn Personal Plane and a Launcher [Ships]

I know I said I want an America’s Cup schooner , but a 110-foot catamaran fitted with a personal exploration plane , like a Japanese super-submarine ? I know Corto Maltese won’t approve, but I’m game. Built by Monaco-based Wally, the Aeroyacht 110 will be one of the largest and fastest multihull ships in the world when it is completed in late 2011. It’s expected to reach 35 knots at full speed, thanks to a hull design by Morelli & Melvin, who created the US America’s Cup contender Stars and Stripes. And if that wasn’t cool enough, this dream ship will carry an Icon A5 , a space-age two-seat amphibian airplane: The plane will be launched and retrieved from a special pod on the catamaran.

Nokia N97 Mini now shipping to American lovers, haters

The miniaturized version of Nokia’s N97 began shipping to eager consumers in Europe in late October , but for those unable to save their pennies in America while waiting for the N900 , today’s the day to unload. As of right now, the (obviously unlocked) N97 Mini is shipping from both Dell and Amazon here in the States, with the former offering it for $430 (after coupon) and the latter selling it for $479.99. Any takers? Or has the full-sized N97 already claimed that piece of your heart?
