Dell introduces $339 G2410H 24-inch 1080p LCD monitor, we go hands-on

Just over a year ago, Dell pushed out its latest and greatest 24-incher, the energy-sipping G2410 . Today, the Round Rock powerhouse has introduced that very unit’s successor (complete with a height adjustable stand), the G2410H. Still sized at 24-inches, this 1080p LCD monitor sports a variety of eco-modes, 5 millisecond response time, 160-degree (horizontal) / 170-degree (vertical) viewing angles, a native 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, ambient light sensor, 250 nits of brightness, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and DVI / VGA inputs. We’ve had one in-house for around a week now, and for $339, it’s not a bad replacement to that 21-inch CRT that’s still weighing heavily on your desk.

UPS: Getting Your Packages Into the Garbage On Time or Your Money Back [Shipping]

I’m pretty sure BSMT GARBAGECAN is not where this package was intended to be delivered. But hey, UPS delivered it, and that’s all that counts, I guess. Martin says: On Monday I couriered an envelop containing paper objects and a DVD from Toronto to New York, to be included in an exhibition that will open this afternoon. The envelop never arrived, and today I saw UPS’s “proof of delivery” – which I attached for you as a pdf document. They had successfully delivered my shipment to a “BSMT GARBAGECAN.” The objects were meant to be included in an exhibition entitled “How To Do Things With Words and Other Materials,” and its seems UPS has contributed its own little performance piece.

SanDisk ships 64GB Ultra SDXC card for $350

Here’s hoping you didn’t pull the trigger on of the world’s first SDXC cards to ship , ’cause if so, you just paid a painful premium. Nary two months after Panasonic served up the first 32GB and 64GB SDXC cards to the masses, SanDisk has stepped in to ship its highest capacity Secure Digital card ever in the 64GB Ultra SDXC. Said device boasts a 15MB/sec read speed, a Class 4 speed rating and an exFAT file structure that helps you capture 1080p clips without any glitches or hangups. It’s also based around the minty fresh SD 3.0 specification, so make sure that you pick up an SDXC reader or a device that specifically supports the format (you know, like ASUS’ Eee PC T101MT ). If you’re finally ready to leap, this one’s available now for the not-quite-reasonable price of $349.99, though if we were you, we’d wait for the rest of the competition to hit the ship button and drive down the MSRP. South Korean Shipping Containers Repurposed For Optimum Sunset Observatory [Architecture]

South Korean Shipping Containers Repurposed For Optimum Sunset Observatory [Architecture]

Shipping containers in my mind are forever associated with grim situations seen in TV shows like Dexter or The Wire, but in South Korea they can also be observatories for viewing sunsets. Erected on the harbor of Songdo New City in Incheon, five shipping containers were recycled and placed together aiming sky-wards for the best possible glimpse of the close of daylight. They’re angled at either 10, 30 or 50 degrees, offering various views across the water, with stairs and ramps inside so people can walk through them. [ ANL Studio via Deezen via Inhabitat ]

Lenovo’s G560 and G460 laptops now available to order

Good news, laptop hunters! No, not those laptop hunters …. Anywho, two of Lenovo’s CES-announced machines are now ready for you to customize and order, with the 14-inch G460 packing a 2.13GHz Core i3-330M processor, integrated Intel graphics, Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 1,366 x 768 resolution panel, 320GB hard drive, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, dual-layer DVD writer and a 6-cell battery. The 15.6-inch G560 adds a marginally larger LCD and, well, that’s it. Thankfully, both units get going at the same $799 price point, so choosing between the two really boils down to how awful your vision is. Got that, gramps? Alienware now shipping 23-inch OptX AW2310 1080p 3D monitor

Just a hunch here, but we’re guessing that Alienware ’s CES stash all hit the production line at right about the same time. During the past day, we’ve seen the company’s M15x, M17x and OptX AW2310 hit the shipping stage, the latter of which is the firm’s first-ever 3D monitor. Checking in at 23-inches and boasting a full 1080p panel, this one also packs a 3 millisecond response time, 120Hz refresh rate and stereoscopic support when NVIDIA’s GeForce 3D Vision Kit is utilized. It’s up for order right now at $469, but if you follow that Logicbuy link down there, you’ll be able to snag it (for a limited time) for $449.10.

Palm’s Pre Plus and Pixi Plus slipping into Best Buy locales everywhere

Officially speaking, the Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus still have a weekend ahead of ‘em before they can be sold, but if you know the right person in your local Best Buy, you could very well be playing with one hours before your contemporaries. An anonymous tipster beamed over the image you see above via our handy iPhone app , noting that both of Palm’s first entries onto Verizon’s network were in stock. Granted, neither are for sale per se, but what’s stopping you from moseying on down and giving it a shot? Nothing, that’s what. iriver E30 ships in China, gets handled in the wild

iriver’s E30 hasn’t shaken any trees since quietly launching in mid-August, but evidently the minuscule, no-frills player is shipping over in China. Available in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB flavors, the pocket-friendly DAP is currently selling for around $66 at the low-end, and if you’re eager to see precisely what it looks like in the wild, that source link down there has the goods you crave. Sadly, there’s still no definite word on a US release, but if you find yourself a few time zones over this holiday season, we’re certain it’d make for a great in-flight partner on the way back.
