If any band could justify not selling individual tracks, its Pink Floyd . What, you just want Summer ‘69 but not Atom Heart Mother Suite? Come on. Now, you won’t have that option. More
I think you’d have to nearly suicidal to attempt it—especially if you’re in NY or SF—but Apple’s doubled the max size of apps you can download over 3G to 20MB. [ 9to5Mac ]
Windows 7 Media Center and Boxee each has its own strengths, and now the Boxee Integration App gives you access to both with minimal hassle. It’s a Windows Media Center plug-in that’s simplicity itself to use. Just click on the Boxee option in the WMC main menu to close WMC and open Boxee, and when you’re done watching your content just close out to automatically bring up WMC again. Even better: the switch can be made with your remote, so you never have to leave your La-Z-Boy. You can get it as a free download now from here , but know that it’s only compatible with Windows 7 and, sadness, won’t work on your Xbox
After 13 days Nokia had seen 1.4million downloads of its free Ovi Maps . Now, less than a month after giving away the good for free, they’ve seen 3m downloads—with a map being downloaded every second. [ TechRadar ]
The iTunes Store is close to hitting 10 billion song downloads and to celebrate Apple is giving a lucky boy or gal a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card. Of course, no purchase is necessary to be entered into the drawing. To throw your name into the hat, you can either purchase a song from the iTunes store or fill out this form anytime between today and whenever the 10 billionth song is downloaded. The important part is that: The prize will be awarded for the entry (either through a song download or through the non-purchase online entry) sent immediately following the download of the 9,999,999,999th song.

I just wonder what the winning song will be (assuming that it’s a purchase-based entry that wins). [ Apple ]
Let’s see if we can’t come up with a small list of things that would be, quite frankly, overkill in a modern game console / video streaming device. Color? You know, some of the best films ever made were in black and white. Audio? Just a distraction, really
A touch of history might be appropriate here. Back in March 2008, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen proudly proclaimed that his team was about to start coding a Flash player for the iPhone, only for his company to promptly backtrack on those words a day later. Then, about this time last year, Apple and Adobe again announced that they were collectively working on putting the ubiquitous format on Cupertino’s mobile devices, but you won’t be surprised to hear that hasn’t born any fruit yet either. In fact, relations seem to have grown a lot frostier thanks to the iPad’s Flash-less introduction, and an escalating war of passive aggressive words culminated in Steve Jobs calling Adobe lazy . Lazy or otherwise, Adobe is keeping track of its download stats, and it’s taken the chance to boast that it received a cool 7 million download requests for Flash player from iPhone and iPod touch devices during December
This seems… backwards. If you want to buy OAR’s new album on Amazon, you’re going to end up paying 50% more for a digital download than you would for a physical disc . It makes some sense, maybe, since at this point a majority of people ordering from Amazon will just end up downloading that the content of the CD onto their computer anyway.
After Nokia gave away its Ovi Maps for free on the 21st of January—that’s just 13 days ago—they’ve seen 1.4 million downloads. “We’re averaging a download a second, 24 hours a day” claimed Nokia’s Anssi Vanjoki. [ Mobile-Ent ]
